Comfort & Clarity Without Eyeglasses

Contact lenses are an excellent option for individuals that are looking for vision correction without the bulk of eyeglasses. There are many different contact lenses, so it is essential to visit us for a proper fitting to ensure you have the type that will work best for you and your eyes.

Ill-fitting contact lenses can be uncomfortable and may even cause damage to your eyes, so always use caution and follow your optometrists’ directions when trying out a new style.

What Types of Contact Lenses Are There?

There are several different types of contact lenses that can give you crisp, clear vision without the need for eyeglasses. We will perform a thorough assessment to ensure we recommend a style that works best for you.

  • Soft contact lenses are made from flexible, gel-like plastic called hydrogel. They are typically disposable and should be worn only during the day for 1 day, week, or month.
  • Rigid gas permeable lenses are made from firm, oxygen-permeable plastic. They are typically smaller than soft lenses and can sometimes be worn at night.
  • Hybrid contact lenses combine both materials of soft and gas permeable contacts. They are designed to provide the clarity of rigid lenses with the comfort of soft lenses.
  • Toric contact lenses are specially designed to suit eyes with astigmatism. The lenses are shaped slightly differently to make them more comfortable on an irregular cornea.
  • Orthokeratology lenses are specially designed rigid gas permeable lenses worn overnight to flatten the cornea and improve vision.
  • Specially designed contact lenses also exist to combat dry eyes by allowing more oxygen through.

What Will My Contact Lens Exam Entail?

If you are interested in contact lenses, we would be happy to help you find the right style to suit your eyes and lifestyle. Your optometrist will assess your eyes to ensure they are healthy and measure your prescription to determine what type of lenses may be best. They will also find out if there are any additional features your contact lenses should have or if you need specialty lenses.

We will also measure the surface of your eye and shape of your cornea so we can find the best style of lenses for you.

Once it is determined what is best for your eyes and lifestyle, we will give you a trial pair to wear for a week to see if they are comfortable. Our staff will then schedule you in for a follow-up appointment to see how they are fitting and if you may need to try out a different style.

If contact lenses seem like a good option for you, we encourage you to book an appointment today!
