What Is Myopia Control?
Myopia control involves various methods that stop the eye from growing in ways that cause vision to worsen.
When myopia first appears, usually in childhood or teenagehood, myopia control methods can be implemented to halt its progress. Although myopia control is generally performed on children, some forms can be used throughout adulthood to effectively slow the progression of myopia.
Types of Myopia Control
At Calgary Family Eye Doctors, we offer effective myopia control methods that are specifically designed to slow the progression of myopia.
MyoCare lenses are designed to help slow myopia progression by preventing peripheral defocus. Traditional glasses can improve blurred vision, but light focuses behind the retina (known as peripheral defocus), triggering eye growth.
MyoCare’s unique design features special elements that redirect peripheral light, placed from the center zone to the edge of the lenses. This means kids can enjoy clear vision from every angle.
An anti-reflective, scratch-resistant coating and UV protection is applied to the lens surface to make it more robust for active kids.
